Our world clings to the world of celebrity like a badge or a black eye-something to be nationally proud of-faces for wherever they have come from-hence why their reputation & representation is so important. The young and the old whether they like to admit to it could probably not deny looking up to a celebrity at some point. There are a fair few of them that I admire not just for their looks and their style but for their talent and their composure. Are there any celebrities that you watch and find yourself wanting to steal an attribute like a magpie might a shiny coin? I bet there is. The next time you find yourself falling in love with a face from the silver screen have a think why that is-what little quirks or personality traits do they have that you wish you could loan for a little while?
My love for a certain Megan Fox is no secret-my love for her however has much more to do with her outspoken audaciousness than her perfect presentation. I like the way that she can laugh at herself and isn’t afraid to say what she wants even if it is admitting that a performance was not her best or that she’s horribly insecure in herself.
Another love is Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame. I used to hate her when I was younger. She was intelligent, cute, short, liked reading and hockey- we were one of the same but she was better because she was a confident, young actress-and you know she got to hang out with Alan Rickman ha. That’s bound to make me hate anyone. But as she grew up and took off for Brown she’s sort of made me think about what I want to do. By a twist of fate she grew up an actress in a popular series of franchise films but that’s not necessarily where she wants her life to go. I like the fact that she’s not quite sure either but she’s gone off to continue her education and left her options open.
Oh and I also love Kristen Stewart. It’s strange because when she acts in Twilight she irritates the hell out of me. I assume that that’s just because I loathe the whole thing deep down in my bones. I’ve seen her in a film called ‘Speak’ and I loved it and her in it. She’s one of those people where when I listen to her speak or watch her in an interview-she seems like someone I could befriend. She’s awkward and quiet and just a little bit weird...and an actress. It seems like an odd combination but I think she makes it work and I like that.
And finally a secret confessed. My guilty pleasure for a few years now has been a television show called ‘Girls of the Playboy Mansion’. I know-I know. Chauvinists and their plastic harlots shouldn’t be any kind of joyful entertainment for women of this day and age etc but despite their lack of intellectual credentials...I grew to adore them for how outgoing, fun and lovable they were. But I suppose there’s little space to be embarrassed about little things when you are getting certain other things out in front of photographers on a daily basis...Still my point stands. I wish that there was a way to study other people and take a little of them away with you in order to improve but not change who you are. But if I knew just how to do that, I’d be an actor too wouldn’t I?
My name is Jasmin but I've always liked boys with girls' names and names that end in -ie.
I'm an insomniac. I like to stay up late to watch the sky change from blue to black to beige and blue again. I'm a critically indecisive realist whose in love with the little things. I enjoy writing lists and schedules but never stick to them. I want to learn to do a million things like speak Swedish, play guitar, skateboard, hula hoop and play poker. My mind is always turning over a million things but I am a simple girl and I never ask for much. I'm a typical nerd and I'm excited by fashion, photography, books, ideas and theories.
I could pour through books and magazines until my eyes dribbled down my face in a torrent of glitter and sequins. It's true.
I like to paint what I write, write what I think and photograph what I see.
