Snapshots- Photographer Spotlight

Wow has it really been that long since my last update? Apologies. I've been itching to post having amassed tons of things to post about in the last few weeks but work, creative writing class, payday and being generally socially retarded have taken up my life lately. I'm back now though and it's Saturday so enjoy some recent work of one of my ultimate favourite photogrpahers and general geniuses Tim Walker. In this much loved shoot for Harpers Bazaar US Tim pays homage to my other favourite genius Tim, director Tim Burton <3 It's a match made in gothic, melancholic, fantasy heaven(Hades).

Models featured are Sophie Srej, Malgosia bela and new favourite nymphette faced Evelina Mambetova. I totally adore her in the shot below where she is styled as Edward Scissorhands.

The skyscraping skeleton is literally breath-taking. I can hardly imagine how beautiful it must have been to pose with in the flesh. I bet getting into a role isn't so hard when your prop is a fifty foot tall skeletor haha. Oh Tim & Tim! For something with no face, it's pretty emotive in these pictures. It looks so shy and fragile and snappable.

This shot is almost unbelievable- Malgosia looks like she's floating in those Nina Ricci platforms. The 'Signs' style corn fields just adds to the creepiness of course. You can't really go wrong with a corn field-unless you're being chased by a winged demon that lives for a month every 12 years ala 'Jeepers Creepers'. In that case the corn field is a no-no and definitely don't ever split up.

The skelton falls and bows at his master's feet: Tim Burton poses as a candy coated clown for Tim Walker <3 I love it far too much.

HOLY CHRIST. It's amazing and menacing like King Kong without that coating of fluffy flesh swooping down to steal the Las Vegas showgirl princess. Now there's a movie Tim.

Tim Burton looking like a homeless Santa Claus slays the fleshless Kong and carries his head in a bag. Walker & Burton should really work together more often...or not. My head could do without exploding every few months...Until they decide to become joined at the him with zombie like Sally from 'Nightmare before Christmas' stitches here is some of Tim Walker's earlier work stored away on the cave like memory of my laptop :)

'A Private World. Balldancing with the dead. Skeletons are a re-occurring theme within Tim Walker's work and I can't help but love it.

Another 'A Private World' shot to the left & 'A Magic World' shot to the right. Quite the contrast. Dark, shimmering, metallics with soft backlights & candy coloured pastel stauettes wrapped in powdery gauze. Both just as delicious. And speaking of delicious Tim's model favourite Lily Cole reaching up into the tree of sugary, glazed and chocolate coated fruit :)

And a longtime favourite to finish; sandals with socks & plastic dinosaurs=childish sex & the city style fun.

Snapshot of a Ghost

My name is Jasmin but I've always liked boys with girls' names and names that end in -ie.
I'm an insomniac. I like to stay up late to watch the sky change from blue to black to beige and blue again. I'm a critically indecisive realist whose in love with the little things. I enjoy writing lists and schedules but never stick to them. I want to learn to do a million things like speak Swedish, play guitar, skateboard, hula hoop and play poker. My mind is always turning over a million things but I am a simple girl and I never ask for much. I'm a typical nerd and I'm excited by fashion, photography, books, ideas and theories. I could pour through books and magazines until my eyes dribbled down my face in a torrent of glitter and sequins. It's true. I like to paint what I write, write what I think and photograph what I see.
