Film Friday

Photobucket
I saw New Moon a few days ago and only helped further cement my hatred for the Twilight franchise. The film making felt lazy, the dialogues and the acting forced by all but Taylor Lautner and the objectification of the guys in the film became hilarious after a while. The books feel empty to me too-without values or goals and the characters are just as vacant. Don't get me started on Bella and her personality or lack thereof. It's infuriating. Though I must say I admire Stephanie Meyer for actually getting five books out of a pile of crap premise for any kind of story. Bravo on writing whole chapters of fluff.

Now to some films worth watching.

1. An Education

I saw this trailer a month or two ago and I loved it. Being a Lolita fiend the idea of a young girl in the 60's torn between a life of adventure and romance with a charming older man or a life of sacrifices and social prejudices meant that I was instantly head over heels. Then there is the quiet doll faced lead Carey Mulligan. Her performance looks inspiring. All I had known about her previously was that she is dating Transformers star Shia Labeouf but having read her interview in the most recent issue of ELLE UK I find her adorably appealing. This looks like a much more preferable picture of first love and romance than any Twilight film.

2. Bright Star

Continuing the literary romance theme here's the story of poet John Keats featuring actor favourites Abbie Cornish Ben Whishaw. Delicious looking. The styling and composition looks perfectly lovely. What better than the story of a talented but always tragic poet? So amazing and so my type of thing.

3. The September Issue

THE fashion movie of the year. I can barely contain my joy at seeing this. I need to see it as in if I don't I will die. Following legendary Editor In Chief of US Vogue Anna Wintour as she sees over the production of the biggest issue of the year. Dreamlike.

4. Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland

I don't think I need to say anything but OMG. I am mad as a hatter for everything this man does.

5. Where The Wild Things Are

TWO WEEKS UNTIL THIS SHOW IN THE UK XD XD XD <3 I cannot wait. I dreamt that I wore a suit like Max's last night. I need one. I need to sit and make gold crowns too and wear it when I go and see this. The soundtrack sounds delightful too. Let's revisit out childhoods and get stuck there for a little while.

Snapshot of a Ghost

My name is Jasmin but I've always liked boys with girls' names and names that end in -ie.
I'm an insomniac. I like to stay up late to watch the sky change from blue to black to beige and blue again. I'm a critically indecisive realist whose in love with the little things. I enjoy writing lists and schedules but never stick to them. I want to learn to do a million things like speak Swedish, play guitar, skateboard, hula hoop and play poker. My mind is always turning over a million things but I am a simple girl and I never ask for much. I'm a typical nerd and I'm excited by fashion, photography, books, ideas and theories. I could pour through books and magazines until my eyes dribbled down my face in a torrent of glitter and sequins. It's true. I like to paint what I write, write what I think and photograph what I see.
